"Then said he unto them, therefore every scribe which is instructed into the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is a householder, which bringeth  forth out of his treasure things new and old"(Matt. 13:52). Scribes were ancient Jewish record keepers and were very necessary before the printing press.  Jesus speaks of two kinds of scribes, the religious kind who shuts up the kingdom and refuses to enter in, then hinders those who are earnestly trying to enter in (Matt. 23:13).  They were blinded by the veil that was over the words of Moses' Law, they would bring forth from the old, but could not envision anything from the new. A lot of this kind of mindset is alive in churches of today!

Secondly there were scribes sent by God (Matt.23:34).  "My heart is inditing (composing) a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer"(Psms. 45:1)  This kind of mindset is for those scribes instructed into the kingdom of Heaven! All of Jesus' parables had layers and layers of truth, each truth goes deeper and deeper depending on how diligently a person searches for depth!  Spiritually speaking, this is for all who have a love for the Word written or spoken. I love the way the scripture declares truth: How can my tongue be the pen of a ready writer? This speaks of something New coming from the storehouse; THE SPOKEN WORD! Householders in the household of faith have a language all their own! Paul told the Galatian Church to treat the household of faith exceptionally good!

Did you notice those within the household have a treasure full of things both new and old? Paul declared: "But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us"(IICor.4:7). The treasure in our earthen vessel is without a doubt Jesus himself!  We are the chest but He is our treasure! He is the Holy Ghost within, He is the Spirit of Truth, and a mighty Comforter! Becoming one with Jesus makes us a Treasure Chest full of grace and truth! Here's the Old then the New: "For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ (St. Jn. 1:17). As we mature in Christ we become a storehouse of Revelation, Knowledge and Wisdom. Our school teacher was "old man Law" however we must know the truth about the Law. "For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin (Rom. 7:14). The greatest thing I could tell you in this newsletter is; the entire Bible is Spiritual and the things you learn from the school master must be Spiritual and flow in harmony into the new covenant!   Praise the Lord!  When discernment is flowing from our "treasure chest" we use the "volume of the book" to bring out new and old all for the purpose of setting creation free!

It takes both our past(old) and our present(new) to complete our treasure chest. To share where Jesus has brought us from and the special things He has done for us makes us a walking Scribe instructed into the Kingdom! Cherish the old and guard it in the archives, but live your life out of a new and living way!  "But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God" (Matt.4:4). The Law and the Prophets and the "Ole Country Church" are valuable heirlooms I love them dearly. But as for today we walk in PRESENT TRUTH  where every day is new in Christ! He has promised to lead us into "all truth" also called "the fullness of Christ" Jesus taught us a "right-now" mindset: "your time is always" and "your time is now"! "And Jesus said unto him, no man having put his hand to the plough,  and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God"(luke 9:62)  No STOP signs in this Kingdom!
