As men and women of God we must stay focused in the area of constant THANKSGIVING! "Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful, but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened"(Rom.1:21). These wise became fools for this reason; to reject God is to fail to always and in all things good or bad give heart-felt thanksgiving! "In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you"(I Thes.5:18).
"Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:"(Col. 1:12). The phrase "made us meet" involves a process that is more than "snapping the fingers". It signifies a working and developing, until what was not so graceful nor obedient is now Sonship material. Our hope must be set on inheritance and not the slavery of religion. Religion promotes being led by men and their programs, Sonship understands being led only by the Spirit of God !
Let's examine the phrase "hath made": "Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ"(Acts 2:36). Through His victorious life of obedience and suffering, then ultimately His sacrifice of Death on the Cross; Jesus "was made" Divine Perfection! Here's the revelation, after His resurrection; one of the most powerful announcements in the entire Bible: "And Jesus came and spake unto them saying. All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth"(Matt. 28:18). It was not always this way! During His temptation in the wilderness this power and whom it was rewarded to was controlled by the devil. "And the devil said unto him (Jesus), All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will give it"(Luke 4:6).
Jesus nullified the strategies of Hell ! He took back everything of importance and then made another powerful announcement: "I am he that liveth, and was dead; and behold I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death"(Rev.1:18) No wonder Jesus said: "I beheld satan as lightning fall from heaven"(Luke 10:18). Becoming one with Jesus and embracing the power of God will also "cast the devil out of your heavens" now not in the future! Let me close with this amazing verse: "Behold I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you"(Luke 10:19). Here's the revelation: power to tread on serpents and scorpions, was an "incognito" way so that Jesus' close followers knew He meant the doctrines and hypocritical ways of the pharisees and sadducees could not affect them. We need the same power today to tread upon man-made religion of today because truly truly a bite from religion is deadly!
