"And Adam knew his wife again;and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew." (Gen.4-25)  Here's a lot to consider in relation to where we are today. Abel being murdered by his brother Cain sets the precedent of our adversary the devil. Abel represents the desire and purpose of God lying dead in the ground with his righteous blood crying out to God for vengeance. As we will see later on, God heard his cry and would begin immediately to set His master plan in motion. Bro. James Ferguson has taught us repeatedly, God does not need a back-up plan, everything is going just as He has fore ordained.

Listen to the words of Jesus, to those unbelieving Jews in the book of (St. Jn.8-44), "Ye are of your father the devil and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar and the father of it." So murder, lust, lying and all other wickedness was here from the beginning, so what we read in (Rev. 12-9) affects all of us, no exceptions: "And that great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world..." The effects of this deception (world-wide) becomes the challenge of all who claim the love of God and share a love for Truth!!

As always the wisdom of God leaves me speechless. God is in no way shaken nor confused at the result of Cain not embracing acceptable sacrifice, but already knows the hearts of His creation. And from the same loins of Adam and Eve, comes another seed, Seth. His Hebrew name means; "an appointed seed." God would use this man as a Godly seed to bring forth the True Appointed Seed; Jesus our Savior. (see Luke 3:38) Seth represents new resurrection of the purpose and desires of God, which was lost by the murder of Abel. "Appointed Seed", lets us know he was ordained of God and re-assures us our God knew exactly what He was doing!

Another very important verse: "And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the Lord." (Gen.4:26) We can certainly see the beginning of a "remnant seed" from this passage. Early writings let us know that many gods were already being created in the ungodly mind of men and they were calling them all kinds of names. Thank God, from the lineage of the appointed seed, men began to know they had a need to call on the Lord, and build a relationship of endearment. From Strong's Concordance; were told the word Lord here is Jehovah. Men have given the True God a powerful identity and are now calling Him by name in the OT.

Next, two chapters later,we see the first useage of the phrase "sons of God" (Gen.6:2). No doubt, a result of success from the Godly "appointed seed" of Seth. A relationship had begun that would evolve from Genesis to Revelation, and is still very much alive today (in God's Remnant Seed). The Phrase "sons of God" is now a reality and growing every day. Here's the NT definition; "But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit"(I Cor. 6:17) "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God"(Rom.8:14) We call on the name of Jesus, our desire is His desire. We're determined only to say and do what His Spirit is saying and doing. God bless His people as Truth reigns over all evil.

In-Christ always,   Elmer Hart
