No Longer Mourning in Zion

In the hills of West Virginia during the newness of spring, God offers us so many shades of green it's almost overwhelming. Green is the biblical color of Life, and speaks of fresh and new revelation based on the resurrection of Jesus and His abundant , everlasting life. We begin to see with a fresh new vision, a green vision if you please, that sees Christ and not ourselves.

"But my horn (emblem of excessive strength and stately grace) you have exalted like that of a wild ox; I am anointed with fresh oil . The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree, he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon."(Psms.92:10) and (Psms. 92:12) Amp. These verses are filled with the color green, we can go a step farther and say evergreen ; both the cedars of Lebanon and palm trees are evergreen in nature. Evergreens, especially in winter, are symbolic of the everlasting life of the Spirit. Both trees symbolize strength, faithfulness, and moral uprightness, in the life of a mature son or daughter of God. Their branches were used in various celebrations of victory and triumph, and never defeat.

This particular Psalm ( ninety two) , was called "a Song for the sabbath day", which we know is associated with our rest in the Spirit. One thing that deserves recognition are the words fresh oil in verse 10. From Strong's concordance: the Hebrew meaning is " to be green". So to be anointed with fresh oil or green oil is to experience newness of life from all the facets of God's resurrection life, which springs from "God's New Wine". Strong's Concordance says of new wine, fresh wine which is highly inebriating. "Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine."(Acts 2:13)  Men are still mocking today, but that doesn't change the truth that there is a real genuine fresh sweet wine, that changes our vision from darkness and brownness into a vibrant green.

Evergreens are more noticeable in the midst of a long hard winter. Here's a revelation for God's remnant seed; In the midst of a hard trial, that seems will not go away, we suddenly see an evergreen. While barrenness and brownness is all around, God has strategically placed evergreens here and there as a reminder: "The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty..." (Zeph.3:17)  These mighty trees are noted for their strong root system which are almost unstoppable. We're to be rooted and grounded as Cedars of Lebanon and rest in the knowledge that the branch from the Root of David  is mighty in the depths of our being. Praise God!!

Isaiah the prophet in his mighty proclamation; "The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me..." (Isa.  61:1) There are mourners in Zion, the Spirit began to deal with me that in the mind of God this is unacceptable. Zion is the High and Holy  place of Light and Revelation, reserved for overcomers who have excelled to the "high calling" and are acquainted with the "high praise" that goes forth in this High and Lofty Place of the Spirit. There are plenty of places for mourning in the lower places of the mountain. However, since the finished work of Calvary, mourning, sadness and heaviness are all a thing of the past, in Mt. Zion Jesus is always Lord!   And so the Spirit says: "To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil (fresh oil) of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified" (Isa.61:3) As His trees of righteousness we are waving Palm branches of victory and rejoicing in the garments of praise. We have a fresh green oil of anointing that brings the joy of the Lord which without a doubt is our strength. (Neh.8:10)  We are trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, the Garden of God and our vision is Green.

In Christ always Elmer Hart
