And it came to pass, that as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret, and saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets. And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship. Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.  And when they had this done, they enclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net broke. (Luke 5:1-6).

We can draw many truths from this passage, notice first of all the Subject Matter is concerning hearing the word of God. It is interesting to note, the ship Jesus picked, belonged to a simple fisherman named Simon, however the meaning of his name means: "he who HEARS".  First requirement, a willingness to open ones mind and heart and be taught by the Master. The revelation I see is a progression in our ability to HEAR the things of God.

I would like to point out different arenas of teaching.  Jesus, first of all, "thrust out a little from the land" then the command came to "launch out into the deep". His elementary teaching, of course, began on land and speaks of those who have an attachment to the world that is difficult to break.

Next, Jesus broke away from the shore, and began to teach with more depth and understanding to those who drew close enough to hear him from the shallows. Thank God for a chosen and elect people who have heard the command to "launch out into the deep".

The Remnant of God must become acquainted with the word of the Lord that comes from the DEEP. Here Jesus compares the deep to the vastness of the great Sea of Galilee. In having to do with spiritual things, the deep speaks of unsearchable Wisdom of God, Mysterious Revelations hidden from those who won't break away from the shore. "He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna,..."(Rev.2:17) In the "deep" the ears must be conditioned to hear the Spirit Teach, (Rom.3:3) says; "...let God be true, but every man a liar...". Its only after our ears have developed an ability to hear Spiritual Truths, that we understand "hidden manna". Hidden Manna is truth and rare nuggets not available to casual Christians, but to those with a hungry heart willing to learn to swim in a spiritual River where you cannot touch bottom. "When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, "Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken: And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not from henceforth thou shalt catch men. And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him." (Luke5:8-11). The catch Jesus is interested in; is to "fish for" and hook all the relationships he can have with those who dwell in the "deep". Our fish are now souls of men and women, who are responding to a call to break away from the shore (world systems and shallow churches with their own agenda) and launch out into an unseen River, where the "Sons of God" are Led By The Spirit!!

The Prophet Ezekiel saw a Spiritual Vision of Healing Waters flowing out from under the threshold of God's Temple issuing towards the East and coming from the Right Side. This lets us know there is a people who have stood in the forefront (Ezk.47:1-5) until the Left hand or Left side ( which speaks of God's Judgments ) has perfected them and passed on, and the Right Side ( which speaks of blessings and pleasure) is now revealing the East ( A Brand New Day). "....and he brought me through the waters; the waters were to the ankles. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through the waters; the waters were to the knees. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through; the waters were to the loins. Afterward he measured a thousand; and it was a river that I could not pass over: for the waters were risen, waters to swim in, a river that could not be passed over". The Bible Number 'one thousand" speaks of the "glory of God" Apostle Paul taught in (II Cor.3:18) that we are changed into His image from Glory to Glory. Ezekiel's waters start out "ankle deep", I see a twofold purpose; we learn to wade in the shallows, we can splash and have fun, but at the same time our feet (our walk) is getting clean as we learn to walk in righteousness. AND HE BROUGHT ME THROUGH to "knee deep" water. The Master must lead us, and we can't help but go through. In this "knee deep" water, we learn to bend the knee, and on bent knees we must learn the value of prayer.  AND HE BROUGHT ME THROUGH   where the waters were to the loins. This is the location of the reproductive system, this is a dimension of maturity. I like the example in (Job 38:3) "Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me." When the waters touch our loins, playtime is over and it's time to build intimate relationship with Jesus our Husband. AND HE BROUGHT ME THROUGH  where the waters are risen and to navigate these waters we must swim. Just as our passage in Luke, we must let go of the shoreline, here in Ezekiel's waters , we must be changed into such Glory, that our feet cannot touch the "river bottom"  but we are led by the spirit, and God ordains the direction of the current and we are obedient enough to go where He goes, as we swim in the "DEEP".
