The Old Testament Prophet Ezekiel prophesies of a coming covenant that the writer of Hebrews confirms is present, not a "future event", as some teach. "Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: ..."(Ezk.37:26)  This is powerful, emphasis on "peace" , followed by everlasting, and sealed by the blood of Jesus! Jesus spends much time in John's gospel telling about the Comforter that is coming in the not too distant future. The next verse: "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid"(St. Jn. 14:27), The Apostle Paul reveals the real meaning of the Peace of Jesus; "And the peace of God which passeth (goes beyond) all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus"(Phil. 4:7). Understanding according to Strong's concordance refers to the intellect of the natural mind. What a big difference, the Comforter was coming (had not yet been given) but Jesus said "my peace" I leave with you, from that time on it's been available, Many times I've laid hold on it and it is astounding!

God's word is Sovereign, and there are "keys to the kingdom" which allow us to access Kingdom Power!  Peace is one of these powers that is vital to us in this time of chaos! What does the Word tell us? "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you"(James 4:7). This scenario implicates a military resistance! Submit is relevant to the military as a good soldier submits to the commanding officer. Resist implicates military resistance, when you stand bravely with no intention of weakness! Powerful truth in my bosom, tells me as the devil fled from Jesus he must flee from me, for I possess the PEACE Jesus gave the believer! My definition of "true peace" is when the "accuser of the brethren" is absent from my mind and my thoughts consist of things honest, just, pure, lovely, good, virtuous and praise! (Phil. 4:8) "Casting down imaginations and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ"(IICor. 10:5)  It is vital that we think like Jesus our Captain! Bringing into captivity is another "military assault  mission"! By mastering God's word we can make a winning strategy, for we are not ignorant of the devil's devices (strategies)!

Prophecy teachers insist on emphasizing futuristic fulfilments ! Let's make a comparison; "And David my servant shall be king over them; and they shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them. Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them. and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them forevermore"(Ezk. 37:24, 26). The sanctuary is now the "saints of God", by this new covenant we are placed in a position of Rest! Peace and Rest are inter-changeable. Extended translations say "I will place them" refers to "blessings of  the covenant" I like that! This is not a future incarnation of King David, the coming of Jesus fulfilled both the law of Moses and the writings of the Prophets. I'll close with this passage from Hebrews: "Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,"(Heb.13:20) This is certainly in reference to Ezekiel's prophecy. And how powerful it is that the writer of Hebrews includes Jesus' resurrection life!
