The words prophesied by Isaiah must be connected to Jesus' actions in showing his disdain for the buyers and sellers in the "soon to be " destroyed temple! Thank God, the old would be replaced with the new. "Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon my altar; for mine house shall be called a house of prayer for all people".(Isa. 56:7)  How can "burnt offerings" be accepted and not rejected? Hosea chapter fourteen begins with a prayer of repentance for Israel. The prayer stresses "turning around" leaving the strength of flesh and finding the "Calves of our Lips"! A powerful deliverance available for "all people"!  "...Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously so will we render the calves of our lips"(Hosea14:2).  Judaism gives way to a SPIRITUAL HOUSE FOR ALL NATIONS!

Did you catch that word "graciously"? Here comes the Grace of God for "all people" and when it becomes a reality the calves of our lips create a sacrifice acceptable to God! King David understood: "Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required. Then said I, lo, I come in the volume of the book it is written of me"(Psms. 40:6-7). Powerfully followed up in the epistle to the Hebrews: "By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name"(Heb.13:15). This is vital in participating in bringing forth FRUIT!

Jesus elaborates on Isaiah's words: "...It is written, my house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves" This should help us understand Jesus cursing the fig tree just after his angry reaction in the rejected temple. This is fulfilling the prophecy of Jeremiah! "And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say we are delivered to do all these abominations? Is this house which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold even I have seen it, saith the  Lord. But go ye now unto my place which was in Shiloh, where I set my name at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel"(Jer.7:10-12).   SHILOH'S RESULT WAS NAMED ICHABOD !

Early one morning Jesus travels to Jerusalem and he is hungry! I have an idea he was "spiritually hungry" for his own people to receive him. He passes a fig tree looks really pretty, full of nice leaves but no fruit; "Let no fruit grow on thee hence forward forever"! Here's the revelation; this fig tree represents Jerusalem and all of its surrounding idolatry! Just as the name of God was removed from Shiloh, the name of Jesus is taken from this situation. Plenty of leaves (religious activity) but zero fruit! "And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying Hosanna to the son of David; they were sore displeased. And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, have ye never read out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise"? Jerusalem's result was BROOD OF VIPERS!
